What does UX/UI design include?

UX/UI design covers how a product works and how it looks: who the users are and what they need to do, the flow between screens, the screens with their states (empty, loading, error), and the visual system of type, colour, spacing and components. The deliverable is a set of approved screens a team can build from, and ours are built by the same team that designed them.

Designers are priced on the same seniority table as engineers, so you read the price before you start.

How much does UI design cost?

You pay the published hourly rate for the hours worked, and a month is 160 hours. A Senior designer is USD 45–50 an hour, on the same table as a Senior engineer, and a Lead is USD 55–60. The sheet above prices four weeks: a Senior designer for 160 hours plus 32 hours of a Lead reviewing. It is an example, not a quote.

Design before build is one team: a Lead and a Senior engineer with a Senior designer for 80 hours is USD 19,600–21,600 a month. If the scope is open, Discovery costs USD 7,000 first.

Team size by situation

  • Design: a Senior designer with Lead review2 people · 1 monthUSD 8,960–9,920
  • Design and build: a pair plus a Senior designer3 people · 1 monthUSD 19,600–21,600
  • A website: a Senior developer and a Senior designer2 people · 1 monthUSD 9,000–10,000

What you get from product design

  • Screens designed in Figma at 1440 and 390 pixels, each approved by you before any code is written.
  • The states, not only the happy path: empty, loading, error and permission states for each screen.
  • Accessibility designed in and checked after: contrast, keyboard use and focus, tested with axe against WCAG 2.2 AA rules.
  • A visual system in your product's own tokens: type scale, colour, spacing and components.
  • The approved frames pinned as the source of the build, and the built page compared against them.
  • The design files and all intellectual property are yours from day 1, and we sign an NDA before the call if you ask.

What we have shown, and what we have not

Every claim is on its case page with its dates. Strong means built end to end with figures; Partial means a smaller or weaker proof, stated as such.

Strong A design covering 519 screen-states, and a portal redesign judged by an independent critic.

Frequently asked questions

What does UX/UI design include?

The flow between screens, the screens with their states, and the visual system of type, colour, spacing and components. You get approved Figma screens at 1440 and 390 pixels that a team can build from.

How much does UI design cost?

You pay the published hourly rate for the hours worked: a Senior designer is USD 45–50 an hour and a Lead USD 55–60. As an example, four weeks of a Senior designer plus 32 hours of a Lead cost USD 8,960–9,920. It is an example, not a quote.

Are designers priced differently from engineers?

No. Designers are priced on the same seniority table: Lead 55–60, Senior 45–50, Mid 35–40 and Junior 30 US dollars an hour.

Do you also build what you design?

Yes, and that is how our published cases work: the screens are approved in Figma, then the same team builds them. A Lead, a Senior engineer and a Senior designer for 80 hours are USD 19,600–21,600 a month, as an example.

Do you design native mobile apps?

Not as a service we sell today. Our published designs are responsive web products at 1440 and 390 pixels, and we have no published native iOS or Android app.

Who owns the designs?

You do, from day 1, with all other intellectual property. We sign an NDA before the call if you ask.

Is the design WCAG certified?

No. We design for WCAG 2.2 AA and check the screens with axe, a keyboard pass and other checks, but we do not certify and we do not audit for certification.

Tell us your case.
