What does a DevOps consulting company or agency do?

A DevOps consulting company, agency or consultant designs and builds the path code takes to production: the CI pipeline that checks every change, the CD pipeline that deploys it, the infrastructure as code underneath, and the gates and rollback that limit damage when something goes wrong. At Clouditive we measure that work by releases that reach production verified, not by tools installed.

A pipeline that only builds and deploys ships a bad release as fast as a good one. The gates, the safe migrations and the rehearsed rollback are what stop it.

The CI/CD & IaC package builds or re-architects your CI/CD and your infrastructure as code: USD 4,000, 2 weeks, fixed price.

What you get, step by step

Everything in the package, in the order it lands. The price and the duration stay the same.

  1. Step 1: Pipelines

Build or re-architect your CI/CD pipelines.

  2. Step 2: Infrastructure

Build or re-architect your infrastructure as code.

  3. 2 weeks

    USD 4,000

Safer releases for a fintech SaaS platform, from dev to production

Read the case

For MPI's portfolio-analytics SaaS platform we built promotion pipelines with Kargo on Argo CD. Before production, each release runs for an hour under watch (a 1-hour soak) and must pass edge smoke checks, pod-restart and readiness checks, and an HTTP 5xx-ratio gate that stops it if the share of server errors rises.

What that changed:

  • New code reaches the dev environment on its own; production waits an hour and must pass automatic health checks.
  • The database is copied automatically before every migration.
  • Going back to the previous release was rehearsed end to end: 72 s back and 124 s forward in dev, both verified.
  • The first production release through the new promotion pipeline was verified: all 12 running service images match the release. Automatic checks can now block a bad release.
  • Every code change is scanned for known vulnerabilities before it merges (SOC 2-oriented), with exceptions that expire.

Is DevOps as a service worth it?

Performance by network in the agency console: what 3 networks report on 7 pieces from 2 brands, with the source of each figure. (interface shown in English)

Yes, when the outside team leaves you releases that reach production verified and a pipeline that can stop a bad one. No, when all you get is tools installed. That is the test we hold our own work to.

DevOps as a service means an outside team runs your pipelines and infrastructure as code on an ongoing basis. Ask any provider, us included, two questions: what stops a bad release, and has the rollback been rehearsed? The first is answered above. Here is how we sell it:

  • Start at a fixed price: CI/CD & IaC is USD 4,000 for 2 weeks. The pipelines and the infrastructure code are yours from day one.
  • Continue by the hour if you want ongoing help: USD 30 to 60 an hour from Junior to Lead, with a 6-month minimum. A Senior at 160 hours is USD 7,200 to 8,000 a month.
  • On Autonomah, each release tag builds, migrates and deploys by image digest. That gave 89 releases from v1.0.0 to v1.61.0 in 10 days, every production deploy verified.
  • We work in your business hours and do not offer 24x7 on-call. We leave alerts and runbooks so your own on-call can resolve incidents.

Frequently asked questions

What does the CI/CD & IaC package include?

We build or re-architect your CI/CD and your infrastructure as code. Fixed price USD 4,000, 2 weeks.

Is CI/CD difficult?

A pipeline that builds is easy. One that can stop a bad release is harder: it needs verification gates, safe migrations and a rehearsed rollback, as we built for MPI.

Which cloud should we use for DevOps?

The one your product already runs on. We have built on AWS EKS for MPI, Google Cloud for Autonomah and Cloudflare for Arynvia, all with infrastructure as code.

What is replacing DevOps?

Platform engineering is often named, but it builds on DevOps rather than replacing it: an internal platform that lets teams ship on their own. We sell both.

Which infrastructure-as-code tools do you use?

OpenTofu and Terraform with encrypted state; Atlantis and Crossplane at MPI. A change that would destroy a resource stops before it applies.

What does deploy by digest mean?

The release deploys the exact container image that was built and tested, identified by its content hash. On Autonomah every production deploy is verified that way.

How much does a DevOps engineer cost per hour?

Our published rates: USD 55–60 for a Lead or Architect, 45–50 Senior, 35–40 Mid and 30 Junior, with a 6-month minimum for staff augmentation.

What is DevOps vs CI/CD?

DevOps is a way of working in which the people who build software also own how it is released and run. CI/CD is one of its main practices: continuous integration checks every change automatically, and continuous delivery or deployment moves checked changes to production through a repeatable pipeline. DevOps also covers infrastructure as code, observability and incident response, so CI/CD is a part of DevOps, not a synonym.

On Autonomah, each release tag builds, migrates and deploys by image digest, the fingerprint of the exact build that was tested. That gave 89 releases from v1.0.0 to v1.61.0 in 10 days.

On PCU and Arynvia, every change is checked on the engineer's machine before it leaves it (secrets, types, lint and build); PCU's check adds architecture and dead-code rules.

Is AI replacing DevOps?

In our work, engineers direct the work and AI agents assist. Our platform lead at MPI works with AI assistance, and Autonomah is built by a very small human team directing AI engineering agents under an explicit engineering policy. In both cases, the controls are the same: every release is a tagged version, production is checked to run the exact build that was tested, automatic checks can block a release, and rollback has been rehearsed.

On every repository we touch: infrastructure as code with OpenTofu and encrypted state, architecture rules checked before code leaves the engineer's machine, and infrastructure changes that stop before they destroy anything.

DevOps as a service, outsourcing or for a startup: what changes?

DevOps as a service means an outside team runs your pipelines and infrastructure as code on an ongoing basis; DevOps outsourcing usually means a fixed job handed to that team. For a startup the first need is one pipeline that blocks a bad release. We sell all three: engineers by the hour from USD 30, or CI/CD & IaC at USD 4,000 for 2 weeks.
