What do cloud migration services include?

Cloud migration services move a product from one environment to another, such as from servers you run to a cloud provider, without breaking what users rely on. The work is an inventory of what runs, a target written as infrastructure as code, a move in a safe order and a cutover you can reverse. Clouditive does that on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure, with a plan you read before any change applies.

We start from a published price, not from a sales estimate: Discovery maps your system for USD 7,000, and what comes after is priced from that map.

What you get, step by step

Everything in the package, in the order it lands. The price and the duration stay the same.

  1. Step 1:

Understand your product and its configuration end to end.

  2. Step 2:

A full roadmap: backlog, roles, critical changes and needs.

  3. Step 3:

Daily meetings and progress reviews with your team.

  4. 1–4 weeks

    USD 7,000

Want to keep going after the package? Add engineers by the hour at the published rates, with a 6-month minimum term. How staff augmentation works.

Legacy modernization: what we have proven on a fintech platform

Read the case

Legacy modernization, for us, means moving infrastructure in small steps that can each be reversed, with the target written as code. That is what we have proven, for MPI's portfolio-analytics SaaS platform on AWS EKS, with dev and production in separate accounts. It is not a cloud-to-cloud migration and not an application rewrite. We have no published case of either, and we say so.

What the platform work shows, step by step:

  • Infrastructure moved from Terraform and OpenTofu with Atlantis toward Crossplane as zero-downtime cutovers, each with a rollback.
  • The target is infrastructure as code, so a change is a file in a repository and not a click in a console.
  • Releases are promoted from dev to production with Kargo on Argo CD (GitOps). Dev deploys on its own. Production waits for a 1-hour soak and for verification gates: edge smoke checks, pod-restart and readiness checks, and an HTTP 5xx-ratio gate.
  • Database migrations run in a pre-sync hook before the new version goes live, and the hook takes a snapshot of the database first.
  • Rollback is a re-promotion of the previous release. Rehearsed in dev: 72 s back, 124 s forward again, both verified.

Frequently asked questions

What does a cloud migration consultant do?

Maps what runs, writes the target environment, sequences the move and proves each cutover. Discovery is that first step: USD 7,000, 1 to 4 weeks.

Do you have a published cloud-to-cloud migration case?

Not yet. We publish the method and the infrastructure work behind it: gated promotion, rollback and zero-downtime infrastructure cutovers on a fintech platform.

Can a migration happen without downtime?

On a fintech platform, infrastructure moves ran as zero-downtime cutovers, each with a rollback. Whether yours can depends on your system, which Discovery reads first.

Can you modernize a legacy system or move it from on-premises to the cloud?

We can plan and build the infrastructure side: Discovery reads the system and puts the move in order, the target is written as code, and each cutover has a rollback. Our published proof is infrastructure on a fintech platform, not an application rewrite, and we have no published on-premises-to-cloud case. Discovery is USD 7,000 for 1 to 4 weeks.

What happens to the database?

A step that migrates a database takes a snapshot first. On the fintech platform that is automatic, in a hook that runs before the new version goes live.

Who owns the accounts and the code?

You do. Engineers use your own accounts and identities with SSO and MFA and least privilege, revoked at exit, and all code is yours from day 1.

Do you offer 24x7 support after the move?

No. We work in your business hours and leave alerts and runbooks so your own on-call can resolve incidents.

In which language do you work?

100% in English, Spanish or Portuguese, whichever your team uses. Our engineers are in LATAM, between UTC−3 and UTC−5.

What should a migration check before it cuts over?

Four things. That the new path passes smoke checks at the edge. That the pods are not restarting and report ready. That the share of HTTP 5xx errors has not risen. And that a snapshot of the database exists before any migration runs. On a fintech platform the first three are gates on every production release, and a failing gate stops it; the snapshot is automatic. We would ask for all four before any cutover.

What did we move off a vendor, and what did it change?

For a US transportation services company we moved metrics and logs off a commercial APM to open-source observability on OpenTelemetry. Dashboards grew from 18 to 135 and observability spend fell by about USD 5,000 a month. That is a telemetry migration, not a cloud-to-cloud one, and the figures are organization-wide: the team grew in the same period, so it is not a result we claim alone.

How long does a cloud migration take?

We don't quote a duration before reading the system, and a number on a web page would be a guess. Discovery takes 1 to 4 weeks and ends with a roadmap: backlog, roles, critical changes and needs, with the migration sequence in it. That roadmap is what lets you price the move, with us or with anyone else.

How much do cloud migration services cost?

Two published steps, then the hourly rate. Discovery is USD 7,000 for 1 to 4 weeks and ends with the roadmap. CI/CD & IaC is USD 4,000 for 2 weeks and builds your pipelines and infrastructure as code, the target of the move. The move itself is hourly: a Senior engineer is USD 45–50, a Lead or Architect USD 55–60, with a 6-month minimum.

Which cloud can you migrate to?

AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. DX Clouditive belongs to the partner programs of all three. Our published cases run on AWS EKS and on Google Cloud, where an AI marketing platform is entirely OpenTofu. We have no published Azure case yet, and we work on Azure the same way: infrastructure as code and a plan read before every apply.
