What does it mean to outsource QA?

Outsourcing QA means an outside team takes on the testing of your product: writing and running automated suites, exploring the product by hand, or both. You decide how much stays with your own engineers. Clouditive offers two routes with published prices: a fixed-scope package that leaves you a working suite, and QA engineers who join your team by the hour.

What you get, step by step

Everything in the package, in the order it lands. The price and the duration stay the same.

  1. Step 1: The suite

A Playwright suite for your 5 critical flows.

  2. Step 2: Your CI

The suite running in your CI.

  3. Step 3: Accessibility

    Accessibility checks on those flows.

  4. 2 weeks

    USD 5,000

Want to keep going after the package? Add engineers by the hour at the published rates, with a 6-month minimum term. How staff augmentation works.

What should a QA report show? Readings from our own projects

Ask any provider for numbers like these, and for the run that produced them:

  • A proptech housing platform: end-to-end proofs per goal against a real local server, and browser journeys across 13 variants.
  • The same platform: pixel-fidelity checks against the approved Figma frames, plus independent design and security reviews.
  • A govtech coordination portal: a click-through with axe on WCAG 2.2 AA tags at 1440 and 390 px, 10 steps, 0 failed requests and 0 console errors.
  • An online RPG: 39 Linux smoke scripts that run two real Unity players against PostgreSQL and check that data survives a restart, plus backup and restore drills.
  • An AI marketing platform: 1,440 integration tests in 266 suites passing at v1.61.0, and portal routes checked with axe at 0 violations in light, dark, forced colours and zoom.

Frequently asked questions

What is QA outsourcing?

Handing the testing of your product to an outside team, whether automated suites, manual exploration or both, while you keep the decisions about what ships.

How much does it cost to outsource QA?

QA Automation Foundations is USD 5,000 for 2 weeks at a fixed price. QA engineers by the hour start at USD 30 for a Junior and go to USD 55–60 for a Lead, with a 6-month minimum.

Does the suite run in our CI?

Yes. QA Automation Foundations puts a Playwright suite for your 5 critical flows in your CI, with accessibility checks on those flows.

Who owns the tests?

You do. All code and intellectual property are yours from day 1.

Do you also test by hand?

Yes. Manual passes cover keyboard use, visual judgement and the flows a script cannot assess.

Which tools do you use?

In our cases: Playwright for browser journeys, axe for accessibility and Jest for unit and integration suites.

Can we start small?

Yes. The 2-week package is the small start, and it comes before any 6-month commitment.

What do you hand over, and what do you keep?

Hand over the repeatable checks: browser flows for your critical paths, regression runs on every change and accessibility checks. Keep the knowledge of which flows make money and what a release may break, because no outside team knows that first. Whatever you hand over should end up in your CI and your repository, as ours does: the code is yours from day 1.

Fixed package or QA engineers by the hour?

Take the package when you need a working suite fast: QA Automation Foundations is USD 5,000 for 2 weeks, with a Playwright suite for your 5 critical flows in your CI and accessibility checks on them. Take engineers by the hour when testing is ongoing: Junior USD 30, Mid 35–40, Senior 45–50, Lead 55–60, with a 6-month minimum.

How do you know outsourced QA is working?

Ask for the run, not a summary. Working QA shows a suite that runs in your CI on every change, a result for each flow, and readings you can check: failed requests, console errors, accessibility violations. If the only evidence is a document saying testing happened, you cannot tell it from no testing. On our projects the readings are the report.

How does the hourly route work?

You interview the QA engineer who will do the work, and that person joins your team, working in your tools in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Billing is per hour worked, with a 6-month minimum. If the engineer leaves or doesn't fit, we replace them and cover the handover at no cost. After the minimum, 30 days' notice ends the engagement.
